WHO I AM
AND WHY IT MATTERS
I'm Andreas Setzer and I've been an activist for large parts of my life and spent twenty years in management at an international corporation. Since 2015 I've worked with more than forty nonprofits and social impact initiatives across Europe, North America, Latin America, India and Asia, from individual leadership teams up to the level of entire movement ecosystems, and what I bring from that is an understanding of how organizations think, matched by a precise understanding of what movements need.

Being an activist and understanding how organizations function are often two different worlds, and I know both. I know which dynamics make institutions strong and which ones corrupt them, what movements need to sustain the fight over years, and what quietly hollows them out from the inside. I bring that perspective into every engagement

The organizations I work with function best when the mission outranks any individual's role or turf, and when a leader gives their loyalty first to the team and the whole they're building together, rather than to their own corner of it. This comes from culture, structure, and decisions that reward exactly that behavior again and again, and that's what I work on with you.
AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
I work with the whole system, not just what's visible, because a communication problem usually sits in the structure and a leadership failure usually sits in the culture. I work on strategy, structure, process, culture and leadership, and on the interactions between them, inside an organization and on the movement level. I don't run isolated workshops and disappear, I stay until the change holds.
INDEPENDENT. THAT'S NOT A SELLING POINT. IT'S THE PRECONDITION.
There are consultants and coaches who work for free. Their fee is paid by a third party — a foundation, a sponsor, an institutional funder. That arrangement works for someone. It doesn't work for you. When a consultant is funded externally, their accountability isn't solely to you — whether anyone acknowledges it or not. I work exclusively on direct contracts. You pay me, I work for you. That's the only arrangement I operate under. It's also why the work can be brutally honest. Learn more about my approach.
